Boat Dock Electric
The most liberating at the same time the most dangerous electrical area that is part of your homes electrical system.
There are many codes to be aware of when wiring boat lift motors, dock lights and receptacles. The codes change every three years so staying up to date is important.
The most significant change is the fact that all wiring coming to a boat dock has to be GFCI protected before reaching the waters edge. It used to be that you could bring power to the dock and then change it to GFCI protection, those days have gone.
Bringing the power to the dock GFCI protected is a much safer way of doing things. There will be a lot of old equipment that needs updating to handle the super sensitivity of GFCI protection but it is all in the name of safety.
